In 2017 Refurrb ltd played a large part at the construction of the Bloomberg’s European headquarters, located at 3 Queen Victoria Street near Cannon Street in London. Designed by Foster + Partners, the building is recognized for its sustainable design and architectural innovation.
Construction Details:
- Design and Architecture: The building comprises two structures connected by bridges over a covered arcade, reinstating part of the ancient Roman Watling Street. Its exterior features Derbyshire sandstone cladding and bronze ventilation fins, while the interior boasts a 210-meter helical bronze ramp and open-plan spaces.
- Sustainability: Achieving a 98.5% BREEAM sustainability score, the building incorporates rainwater harvesting, LED lighting, and innovative ceiling panels that enhance energy efficiency.
- Cultural Integration: The site includes the restored London Mithraeum, a Roman temple open to the public, and features artworks by artists such as Olafur Eliasson and Cristina Iglesias.
The project, costing approximately £1 billion, was constructed by Sir Robert McAlpine.
