St Pancras Evergreen Ward
In 2022 Refurrb Ltd had a significant role when the Evergreen Ward at St Pancras Hospital underwent a comprehensive refurbishment to enhance its facilities for both staff and service users. The project involved transforming existing four-person bed bays and supporting rooms into mental health consulting rooms. This redesign aimed to create a user-friendly and vibrant environment that promotes open conversations about mental health. Key considerations included anti-ligature requirements, careful material selection, and a layout that met all regulatory standards while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere. The refurbishment resulted in a 133% increase in mental healthcare spaces, expanding from six to fourteen rooms. Additionally, new staff facilities, including a kitchenette and toilets, were added to improve the working environment.
This renovation is part of a broader transformation program at St Pancras Hospital, which includes the redevelopment of the site to provide exceptional clinical care in modern, accessible, and sustainable mental health facilities. The redevelopment plans also involve the creation of new homes, offices, and public spaces, with wellbeing at the heart of the designs.
The transformation program has already achieved significant milestones, including the opening of Highgate East, a flagship 78-bed inpatient facility, and the development of a new community mental health facility at Lowther Road in Islington. These developments aim to improve the way clinical services are organized and managed, providing modern, welcoming spaces for both service users and staff.
